Unlocking the Secret to Launching Without Burning Out

You’ve done it! You put that new offer out there and launched but now you feel drained and exhausted. You find yourself asking, how on earth am I going to manage this again? Or being so put off that you swear off live launching forever!

With so many moving pieces to a launch and all the energy that it takes to not only execute it all but also show up and shine when it comes to selling it can feel like TOO much, and if you’re not careful can easily lead to burnout.

You love being in front of your audience and engaging with them but you’re just not sure if the chaos of launching is really for you. Here’s the truth: whenever you put a new offer out there, no matter how big or small you do it or the method that you use you will always be ‘launching’.

Launches don’t have to be draining and in fact I work with entrepreneurs to make sure that the launch strategy that they use is one that works for them both in terms of how they like to show up and where they’re at in the current season of their business.

Launching is an incredibly effective way to grow your business and audience all in one so I want to encourage you to reframe them as exciting opportunities to connect deeper with your audience. This is actually my first tip for helping to avoid burnout when it comes to launching:

Be aware of the mindset that you’re bringing to the table when you start!

If you’re coming to your launch already in a state of dread, stress and overwhelm this is not going to translate well to your audience. Yes, we want to bring in more income and grow our audience but putting all this pressure on yourself from the off is not helpful at all. Really work on reframing your mindset and trying to step into the energy of how you want to show up - whether it’s peaceful and grounded, energetic and powerful or calm and collected.

I personally love using a technique called tapping to help work on my mindset but you can use whatever tool you find most effective - whether that’s meditation, journalling, moving your body etc.

There are some great tapping videos for free online on YouTube - here is a great one to get you started but feel free to goggle tapping for (add how you would like to feel) and then try it.

My second tip is to give yourself plenty of time!

I work with a lot of creative entrepreneurs who get creative downloads all the time and want to put offers out there now now now! And whilst this is a powerful energy to be in it can also lead to burnout very quickly. If you’re trying to put a brand new offer out then I would always advise to give yourself a healthy timeline so that you (and your team) can strategise and implement all the pieces.

Give yourself a minimum of 8 weeks to plan and execute a launch plan. Use a good chunk of this time for planning and mapping out all the pieces including deadlines so that you’re clear on what needs to get done by when and you don’t have the intense pressure of getting it all done overnight.

Be aware of what’s going on in your life.

I always ask clients about what is coming up for them in their lives over the next 2-3 months so that we can actually see if they have the energetic capacity to be in a launch mindset. Now this is not to say that if you have a full life you can’t launch but more to be aware of any specific events that will pull your attention away and also when it comes to the planning phase making sure that we’re aware of any personal things we need to make space for so that we can the whole process as easy and spacious as possible over the coming 8+weeks.

This includes planning time off, getting extra support at home, delegating out or pushing back other work that isn’t urgent and a priority. If you’re doing live webinars or going to be spending a lot of time doing sales calls and engaging in the DMs for sales then even things like getting your meals prepped for the week, having someone watch the kids for a couple of hours or taking that morning off for yourself can make a huge difference.

Trust me I have been there as launch support when a launch is so crazy and self-care goes out of the window for all involved! When you or your team are getting to close to burnout it can lead to silly mistakes, slip ups and frustration so even though it seems counterintuitive to be creating space during a launch, it actually isn’t. Make sure that you have planned in time and space for you to fill yourself up so that you can be your best.

Set realistic expectations

Be honest with yourself about your capacity, especially if you currently don’t have any team to help with launch support. You are only one person and there are only so many hours in a day.

Don’t go for a full all singing and dancing launch plan (that some industry expert) has suggested if there are too many pieces and you aren’t familiar with all the tech. There are plenty of ways to have a successful launch without stressing yourself out with trying to learn 100 new things at the same time.

Yes we have to be continually learning and growing but if everything your doing is new to you then you will feel overwhelmed.

Don’t know how to build a sales page? Why not create a Google document to share with people who are interested in your offer. I know plenty of online coaches smashing their sales simply by using Google docs.

Trying to set up a new webinar platform and crying into your laptop because you just cannot figure it out? Instead just use Zoom.

There is always a simpler way to what you want to do and especially at the beginning I encourage people to start where they are with what they have rather than think they have to have all the systems and flashing lights done.

Get Support

Full support may not be possible especially when you’re starting out but if you’ve been in business for a while or launched before then the next steps would always be bringing on team to help you with future launches. Whether that’s someone who specialises in one thing like a tech VA to set up all your tech or having a launch specialist review your strategy to make sure that it’s on point, getting support is invaluable and can really fasttrack your success.

Stay consistent in between launches

Don’t just launch and then ghost your audience!

One of the biggest ways to make launches easier and easier to to see them as an extension of your daily business. Keep showing up on social, keep nurturing your audience and listening to them and what they need. Keep focused on building your list in between launches as well. If you have this regular rhythm then launching should feel more like a gentle wave of new energy rather than a stark contrast to what you’re doing daily and a huge slog uphill.

At the end of the day launching can feel like a rollercoaster - hopefully you hit your revenue goals but if not then it’s never a failure and always an opportunity to grow your audience and learn something for the next one. Being in business especially in the online space is never a static exercise and that’s part of the excitement and thrill of it all.

If you’re ready to take your launches to the next level and start to feel good about them then we would love to support you! Whether it’s through an audit call or DFY launch support we’re here to help!
